In the American eating lifestyle where meat and processed food are always present in every meal, The Raw Food Detox Diet is will is too strict. For the sake of weight loss, you have to sacrifice your appetite with cooked food. This diet plan will require you to eat literally raw food because you have to take in fresh fruits and vegetables.
The author presented 11 types of quick exit foods arranged in hierarchy. Groups in hierarchy 1 are the best food and the worst food labeled 11. Group 1 of course contains fruits and vegetables which we all know are good for our health. The worst group contains food with preservatives, artificial flavors and colorings including those with sweeteners.
The good thing about this book is that the author included list of food substitutes. A lot of recipes and variety of menu plans were included. The book also made couple of suggestions on what types of foods should a dieter eat in parties at a restaurant or any social gatherings. This means that you really cannot cheat. Whether you are at home or out to eat in gatherings, you have to stick with the plan. The recipes also do to require some soaking, dehydrating and sprouting.
The author advocates fruits and vegetable diet to detoxify the body. These foods are grouped according to which type of food can be mixed with the others. According to the author, the grouping would enhance the ability of the body to break down the food more easily. An emphasis was made that although raw and natural foods can be easily digested, they have to be mixed accordingly.
Aside from the strict food group combination, I am a little uncomfortable with her dislike of soy products. She even calls legumes and beans as “mucous-forming poisons”. These foods are also natural foods and why should they be excluded in the diet? An average person is aware that these are nutritious food and are needed by the body. It is not also fair to remove meat, eggs, coffee and wine in your eating lifestyle.
Like much weight loss and diet books, this author also failed to back up her claims with reliable research and clinical studies. Relative to health and nutrition, this part should not be missed out. This information is important to give assurance to readers that the process is proven safe and effective. We cannot always rely on testimonials because of the reason that results may vary from person to person.
