The Sneaky Chef Diet Exposed

If your kids and other members of your household hate vegetables and other healthy foods, this book is for you. The Sneaky Chef is divided into three major sections. Apart from these sections, the author also included relevant statistics and researches about children’s health and nutrition. Generally, the book looks good because of the colorful pictures of the foods and finished products of the recipes although there are only few of them. You can also find helpful lists like the list of least contaminated foods, list of staple food and important organic food that we need to buy.

The first section is a discussion of how important it is for mothers to include healthy food in their kids’ meals. Tricks on how to prepare your kids meals with nutritious food are provided. This is helpful for those who prepare food for picky eaters. I believe if you are a picky eater too, you can use these tricks if you are after a healthy eating habit.

The next section of the book is dedicated to the recipes called “Make Ahead Recipes”. The 13 recipes include fruit juices including spinach juice, vegetable purees and flour mixtures which are made up of wheat germ, white flour and whole-wheat flour. These are undeniably healthy not to mention grains and nuts used as breading.

The last section of the book is purely a kids’ meal section. This is primarily because the recipes are the usual meals or food kids love. But because of the healthy ingredients that are sneaked into the food, these foods are healthier than the classic ones. The list of recipes includes pudding, flavored milk, pasta and cookies. The book also includes a comprehensive index.

There are several things that should be improved in the book. These include:

  • There is no nutritional information on the recipes in the book. This should be basic in a cookbook. This information will also back up the idea that the sneaked foods are healthy enough for the kids. The calorie counts should have been at least included.
  • Although the names of the recipes are unique and easy to remember, they are not presented in alphabetical manner according to the type of food. They are rather arranged according to their unique names. For example, because the recipe for Burrito is called “Incognito Burrito” it is listed under I instead of B.
  • The book is not spiral bound which will require you to flip on the right page every now and then.
